Zones of Regulation

Prep will be involved in a program called The Zones of Regulation written and created by Leah M Kuypers. It is a curriculum designed to foster self-regulation and emotional control.

The Zones of Regulation is a conceptual framework used to teach students self-regulation. The aim of the program is to help students improve their ability to recognise and communicate how they are feeling in a safe, non-judgemental way. It also allows students to tap into strategies to help them move between the zones. The zones can be compared to traffic signs. Green is ‘good to go’, yellow  means to slow down or take warning, red means to stop and regain control. The blue zone can be compared to a blue rest area for when you’re tired and need to recharge.
